The Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was yesterday suspended from his post by the President, Goodluck Jonathan.

The governor was suspended in absentia, while attending a three-day meeting of the West African Central Bank Governors in Niger.

The President said the suspension was due to his tenure being characterized by various acts of financial recklessness and misconduct inconsistent with the administration’s vision of a Central Bank propelled by the core values of focused economic management, prudence, transparency and financial discipline.

He is to hand over to the most senior Deputy Governor, Sarah Alade, who he was on official assignment with.

Our sources have said that the Sanusi had been given a heads up, and is now landing in Lagos instead of Abuja as he is meant to be arrested to contain any act by him to resist the suspension.

He will be received in Lagos by his family and friend former Minister of the FCT, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.
