Bit by bit, and in different creative forms, Chike has rekindled the spark his debut album, Boo Of The Booless sets off. In July 2020, he offered an electric take on the project in form of EDM mixes of standout tracks which he followed by dramatic videos that breathe life into the album, and startling remixes including the Mayorkun assisted remix for If You No Love. It’s been almost a year since the album was released and Chike is still working hard at keeping its relevance. This month, he returns, bolder and more electrifying on the remix of Running, which finds him leaning on Simi’s tuneful vocals for support.
A whole lot different from the original version, Running (To You) still casts Chike as a passionate lover, still being chased by his feelings over piercing acoustics with the welcome addition of shaky percussions that adds bounce to the single. Simi comes in on the second verse as Chike’s lover with tuneful vocals to soothe the ears of her listeners and her lover’s worries in turn. A likely pair, the compatible duo, create sonic magic with their words and harmonies.
Running (To You) is accompanied by a Pink directed video that follows a dramatic plot climaxing in tragic scenes, a stark contrast to the warm and fuzzy feelings Chike and Simi’s harmonies inspire.
