Noon Dave: Chocolate City’s New Act Makes His Debut With ‘Brunch’

Following Chocolate City’s March Madness announcement, the record label has unveiled a new act called Noon Dave. Born David Obafemi, the 27 years old Nigerian R&B singer-songwriter started writing music at an early stage. Growing up in Lagos state, Noon was exposed to a diverse range of music with elements of soul, R&B, pop and of course Afrobeats. Influenced by everything he heard, he took it all in and created his unique sound.

Now signed to one of the biggest labels in the country, Noon is ready to make his mark in the music scene with his new single titled Brunch. Sharing his excitement on getting signed to Chocolate City, the Afro R&B artist says, “This has been a lifelong dream so to be here at this moment, I’m stoked! I can’t wait to share my world to people through my music. Everyone needs to sit tight.”

On the new single, Noon, who is also a guitarist, sings almost exclusively about taking his lover to brunch; a euphemism for sex in this scenario. Brunch oozes sensuality with daring yet not too risque lyrics. An infusion of pidgin gives a familiar feel to the otherwise mix of new and retro R&b sound.

Talking about his debut, Noon says,

“Brunch was very much inspired by Saint JHN’s music I listened to and this moved me to make a song lovers can enjoy whilst having a great time.”

As the lead off his forthcoming project, Brunch showcases his approach to music as one of the new RnB artists in Nigeria.
