Discover Christoph Filgertshofer, Ex-YouTuber Turned eCommerce Whizz

Posted on

Christoph Filgertshofer, the budding German eCommerce genius, is an entrepreneur and expert in the field of eCommerce and marketing. He was born in a small town near Munich, where he also spent his childhood and youth.

Christoph’s early encounter with Entrepreneurship

At an extremely young age, he encountered entrepreneurship through his father. Speaking about this foundational encounter, he said that his father told him every day about his everyday life as an entrepreneur. This was one of his highlights of the day. Every day, he said, there were new problems, new opportunities, new developments, it was just never boring. To me that sounded like the perfect everyday life at the age of nine.

At that time, Christoph claims he did not understand that fluctuations are not always positive and that most entrepreneurs are therefore under constant stress. Nevertheless, it was his dream to be an entrepreneur and thereby become a millionaire. His association with being a millionaire back then was the ability to buy anything you want and that sounded just perfect to him. So, his answer to the question “What do you want to be later?” Was always either “entrepreneur” or “millionaire”.

His first personal contact with entrepreneurial activities came when he was around fourteen years old . There was a new version of the Apple iPod Touch and he really wanted it because many of his friends got it immediately after its release. Christoph said, “I’ve always felt uncomfortable asking my parents for money, especially for expensive things like an iPod Touch. So, I decided to make the money myself. I had no idea how to do it, but I was 100% convinced that I could do it”

Christoph tries his hands at Entrepreneurship

Over the next few months, Christoph tried all sorts of things, but the only thing that really made a profit was trading in trading cards. He found a way to get rare trading cards cheaply and then sell them on eBay or to his friends. And then the day finally came when he raised € 280 and could buy the iPod touch. He notes that working for something yourself and achieving your goal is simply one of the nicest feelings. From that day on, Christoph’s entrepreneurial fire was kindled and every day, new goals came up.

In the months that followed, he tried all sorts of things to earn a little money outside of school. One of his best ideas was to deliver newspapers, but not like everyone else did. He got me several discharge jobs at the same time and passed most of them on to his friends. Christoph got a small commission himself. He had previously optimized the routes so that his group could deliver all the newspapers every week with the least possible labor.

All the money he made during that was saved towards the achievement of his greatest dreams.

The beginning of Christoph’s YouTube journey

Christoph had a lot of fun recording videos, editing them, and uploading them to YouTube for years. At the age of eleven, he opened his first YouTube channel and published his first video. But he was not satisfied with the quality and wanted to produce better videos. At that time, he had no idea that one can make money with YouTube clicks and that well-known brands will pay thousands of euros for a product placement. So, until he was fifteen years old, he only published a few and very irregular new videos on YouTube.

However, this changed with the accidental discovery of the YouTube channel by one of his friends. Said friends had thousands of subscribers, regularly uploaded videos of a hand game that they both played, but Christoph was unaware about. To him, it was completely crazy that one can get so many subscribers and clicks even though they were not even good at the game. So, from that day on, he decided to take YouTube seriously and upload videos every day with the hope of the same success.

Unfortunately, things did not pan out as Christoph had imagined – despite the money he had previously invested in professional equipment. He uploaded new videos every day for months, but nobody cared. That was of course a bit demotivating, but he enjoyed the process behind it so incredibly that he kept going despite the lack of success. It took until a new game was released for change to happen.

Christoph’s big break

One of Christoph’s videos went viral overnight, getting tens of thousands of views and his number of subscribers suddenly doubled. The knot was broken and several of his videos received many views. Within a few months, he suddenly had over a hundred thousand subscribers and had jumped from monthly earnings of € 400 to over € 10,000 in many months. It was just a great time for Christoph. Suddenly, he was making more money than many doctors and he was just a sixteen-year-old on his way out of high school. He continued to upload YouTube videos for months.

At the height of his YouTube career, he had around 230,000 subscribers and over 3,000,000 views a month.

Christoph branches out

The YouTube fame and money did not suffice. He wanted to reorient myself. He was no longer enthusiastic about uploading gaming videos to YouTube, he was challenged. This lit his path to eCommerce. During his time as an influencer, he had worked with countless brands and learned a lot about marketing products on social media. But he had no idea about the other aspects of running his own eCommerce business. So, he grabbed his friends and together, they learned all they could about eCommerce. All relevant courses, YouTube videos and blogs were searched and summarized according to the best strategies. This experience birthed the affiliate giant Christoph is building today. He has partnered with Forbes, Shopify, Yahoo Finance and other brands and is on his way to building something groundbreaking.

While Christoph is no longer active on YouTube, you can still watch his videos on his channel, keep up with his Forbes tidbits at and follow him on Instagram at chrisfil and Facebook at Christoph Filgertshofer.
