Ckay Delivers Debut Coachella Performance
Talented Nigerian emo-Afrobeats artiste, Ckay delivered a spectacular performance at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio California. He was brought out by fellow Warner Music artiste Pinksweat$ during his set on the Mojave stage.
The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, known simply as Coachella is an annual music and arts festival held at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California, in the Coachella Valley in the Colorado Desert. Coachella is regarded as one of the most in- demand concert tickets in the world and is regarded as helping foreshadow future trends and stars in the music and fashion spaces.
Building on the sustained momentum from topping recently debuted Billboard’s Afrobeats chart, Africa’s boyfriend serenaded a welcoming and energetic Coachella crowd with the sweet sounds of his viral hit Love Nwantinti (Ah Ah Ah), which has received certifications in countries like the USA, France, the UK and Australia. He followed up with his latest single Emiliana, which just went gold in France.
This interest has culminated in a Jimmy Fallon performance, and a recently sold out show at SOBs in New York. Ckay’s Coachella appearance came as part of Pinksweat$’s set.
Although, the Afrobeats movement was slightly diminished on the Coachella line-up this year, Ckay’s appearance at the festival indicates another bright spot for the spread of the sound and the movement underpinning it.
The singer, joins an elite list of African artistes who have performed at Coachella, including Burna Boy, Mr. Eazi and Black Coffee.
