Coachella proudly unveils Oluseye Desmond Sodamola, Afrobeats’ most globally recognised Nigerian  DJ, popularly known as SPINALL, as the first Afrobeats DJ to grace the Coachella Valley Music and Art Festival. The festival will witness Spinall’s electrifying performances across two consecutive weekends, specifically on Saturday, April 13 and 20.

This phenomenal announcement signifies a major milestone for DJs, producers and artistes from Nigeria. As Afrobeats occupies a prime position at Coachella, DJ Spinall is poised to lead the Sahara Tent, a stage designated for tapping high-energy music and exploring the connection between technology and art, promising fans a uniquely intense experience.

“This is a monumental moment for Afrobeats,” DJ Spinall reacted, thrilled at the announcement. “As our distinctive genre continues to captivate global audiences, stages like Coachella provide a platform to celebrate our growth and inspire us further to showcase our art and culture to the world.”

Coachella’s announcement comes on the heels of Nigeria’s remarkable contributions to the global music scene, with Spinall being crucial to the global attention Afrobeats currently enjoys.

Spinall’s trailblazing journey includes his unprecedented feat of having a Nigerian and Afrobeats DJ feature in the prestigious British electronic dance and clubbing magazine Mixmag’s list of top 25 DJs of 2023.

In addition, Spinall takes pride in being the first Nigerian to hold the audience spellbound at the illustrious Glastonbury Festival in the UK, taking after Afrobeats legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti who created a path for contemporary Nigerian artists like Burna Boy and Wizkid.

Ahead of Spinall’s Coachella performances, fans are  to share their preferences for Afrobeats songs they’d like to hear on the grand stage on social media via @spinall.
