Crówn is Preaching for Peace on Debut EP Lead Single ‘Africa Unite’

Posted on

UK-based Nigerian artist, Crówn is finally ready to share his five-track debut EP. To herald the project, he shares its lead single African Unite, an ode to his heritage that also serves as a means for him to familiarise his audience with sound and become a household name. Drawing influences from Afrobeat veterans including Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Lagbaja, and Majek Fashek, Africa Unite despite its jazzy inclinations and seriousness has a positive, hopeful, and vibrant summer feel to it.

A break from his norm, Crówn is the voice of generations and victims of systemic oppression on the single. Symbolically, it begins with a sampled speech from the first prime minister of Nigeria speaking on the need for peace, unity, and equality across the African continent. He then swoops him with a chorus that bridges the gap between Crówn the activist and the entertainer.

Africa Unite is many things: an EP preclude, a call to action, a social commentary, and something to alter your mind and movement.
