DEELA Takes It Up with Old Lovers on New Single, “Take It Up”

Posted on

“I could pull anything like the sun in space,” raps DEELA on her new single Take It Up. In the song, DEELA plays the role of a young woman freshly out of a romantic relationship. As is typical of those who have endured a sour relationship or a string of them, DEELA asserts her self-worth, even if her previous lovers did not, could not, recognize it. When she raps that she could pull anything, she means better lovers, more money, and all of life’s lushest things. This is the musical version of “I have moved on from y’all.”

DEELA admits as much that the record draws from her previous relationships. The British-Nigerian sets this autobiographical record to a hip-hop and trap soundscape. The mid-tempo beat wills you not to dance but to listen.

DEELA made her debut in 2020 and has been on a steady rise in the UK music scene, receiving co-signs from such artists as Flo Milli and Cruel Santino. Last year GUAP MAG named her a rising star in the UK underground scene.

Her work with Coco & Clair Clair, on the song The Hills, has brought DEELA the closest to a mainstream audience thus far.

Take It Up was released via DMY Artists.
