Deflon Shuns Artistic Straitjacket In Debut Single “Psycho”

Posted on

Nigeria-born, London-based singer Deflon has marked his music debut with Psycho, a single produced by Kronik, on May 5, 2023. The song rides on partly raunchy, partly dark rhythms, as the artiste announces himself with passion-driven vocals, one which cuts across Afrobeats, R&B and Hip-hop but is quite tricky to pin down.

It took the artiste three years to fine-tune his artistry, which has given him the head start on this new song. Deflon’s lyrics are peppered with informal terms  such as wanna, buddy, tryna and baddie, which create the ideal personal experience. With this style hebrings to Afrobeats, he seems unwilling to follow the crowd and he is committed to creating unique sounds.

Psycho was inspired by the singer’s experience with an old flame, as the song’s lyrics are reflective of the moment. Inspiring a tranquil mood yet exuding an all-round appeal, the song covers two and a half minutes.

Kanye West and Wande Coal are two of Deflon’s biggest influences, but as the artiste kickstarts his career, the music style he is championing is not limited in scope and genre.  Ultimately, Psycho crowns his background efforts as he takes a bold first step in the music industry.

Psycho is available on streaming platforms.
