Dennis Osadebe is the most iconic young Nigerian artist of his generation. His ability to mend the future with the past and present while combining both local and foreign pop culture references highlight his desire to create art which, though rooted in Nigeria, has a global outlook. Osadebe is credited for developing the cultural movement called ‘Neo-Africa.’ This is his way of rebelling against ‘African Art’, a term he considers limiting and lazy.
This Nigerian-based mixed media artist is our guest on the third episode of the Made in Nigeria podcast. He shares his origin story as well as his journey to becoming a professional artist. Enjoy!
