DigiMillennials is a digital media platform that aims to best celebrate, elevate, and amplify black culture from Africa and around the world, with a focus on creating original content. The culture-driven platform birthed in Lagos, Nigeria took to their social media last week, to announce the launch of its documentary series which has been intentionally titled “Offstage: A DigiMillennials Original”.

With African music getting bigger every day, it seems like the artists are the only ones gaining more international recognition. The scene has experienced international breakouts like CKay, Tems, Rema and a long list of others; thanks to the growth of streaming culture and technology.

However, beyond the artists themselves, there are lots of people who do incredible work behind the scenes to make and market the music, and ensure that these artists have thriving careers. They work day and night to play their parts in putting Afrobeats culture on the global stage. They are the talent managers, A&Rs, label executives, PR personnel, music producers, engineers and many others.

DigiMillennials’ “Offstage” YouTube video series will seek to spotlight these incredibly hard-working people and serve as a platform for them to tell stories about the important work that they do. The name “Offstage” is meant to describe the people who work behind the scenes in order to make things happen.

The first season will have five episodes and will feature leading talent managers in Africa’s music scene including Oreoluwa Peters, Tobi Mohammed, Anthony Egwu, Isioma Nwaruocha and Olajumoke Olayiwola.

For its premier episode, DigiMillennials spoke to Olajumoke Olayiwola, who is known to be manager/legal consultant to P.Priime, Tiwa Savage, Semzi, Telz and Ileri. She shares her story of the ups and downs of being a talent manager and the lessons she has learnt from the journey.
