An Enugu Homecoming, a docu-reality film produced by Idunoba Entertainment in partnership with Voice Of The East, captures the beating heart of Enugu through the eyes of its most dynamic residents: the young creatives, tech pioneers, and innovators shaping its future. Supported by Risevest, Assetbase, Hisa, and Landmark Nike Lake Resort, the project spotlights a city blending rich cultural heritage with forward momentum.
Directed by a Native Son
Filmmaker Dika Ofoma, whose career began in Enugu and whose works are deeply rooted there, helmed production and direction. “My filmmaking journey started in Enugu,” Ofoma shares. “All my films have been set here, so when Eke reached out about this project, it felt like the perfect moment to reengage with the city I call home. Anchoring the story through Uzoamaka allowed us to weave in the nostalgia many associate with Enugu—from her secondary school and university days—while revealing fresh possibilities.”
Born from Tech Festival Buzz
The film’s spark ignited at the Enugu Tech Festival in May 2025, says Executive Producer Eke Urum. “We arrived for the event, connected with people doing groundbreaking work, and felt the city’s undeniable energy, growth, and beauty,” Urum recalls. “That experience prompted conversations with Enugu natives like Dika and Uzoamaka about their ties to the place. What began as talks evolved into capturing these authentic stories on screen.”
A Personal Anchor’s Journey
Actor and filmmaker Uzoamaka Power serves as the film’s nostalgic guide, drawing from her own history in the city. A secondary school alumna in Enugu and university graduate from nearby Nsukka, she describes the project as “coming full circle.” “Returning as host was nostalgic and thrilling—especially seeing how much the city has evolved,” Power says. “This film spotlights Enugu’s youth in the thriving tech scene and beyond. A place shines brightest through its young people, and An Enugu Homecoming celebrates their talent, vision, and role in building a welcoming future. I couldn’t say no.”
