In furtherance of his relevance in the music industry, the international DJ has dropped his latest single Take Me Away. Take Me Away arrives just in time for summer bringing a breezy, uplifting, and tropical vibe. The track blends Afro-House and Afropop, featuring addictive percussion and a rhythmic bass line that invites listeners to let loose.
Produced by Telz, the song showcases the smooth, honey-textured vocals of Nigerian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ayanfe, alongside Kenya’s leading Afropop vocalist BIEN (of Sauti Sol). Together, they deliver a vibrant and dance-inducing anthem.
Born in Minnesota, USA, and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, DJ Obi began his career in 2005. He has since become one of the most sought-after and versatile DJs globally, mastering genres ranging from House and EDM to R&B, Hip-Hop, Afrobeats, and Amapiano. Breaking boundaries, in 2016, he broke the Guinness World Record for the longest DJ set by playing for 240 hours over a 10-day period. As an international DJ, he has collaborated with major brands and events, notably DJing at the MET Gala after-party in 2022, the YouTube pre-Grammys event, and the Casablanca Paris Fashion Week after-party. DJ Obi has also shared the stage with global stars such as Burna Boy and Tiwa Savage.
Born out of the lockdown in 2020/21 and later taken to a physical location, Obi’s House has become a melting pot of the Lagos nightlife scene. Attracting over 2,000 partygoers every Monday night and hosting some of the music industry’s biggest names, including Wizkid, Davido, Tems, Ayra Starr, Rema, and Giggs. It has also become a crucial platform for launching new music from Nigeria and across the continent, bridging the gap between underground scenes and the mainstream.
This summer, DJ Obi will take Obi’s House on tour across the world, bringing his unique Lagos flavor to the UK and North America. The tour includes a London date on June 30th at E1 and additional dates on the last Sundays of July and August.
Continuing to expand his global appeal with more international tour dates and DJ sets, DJ Obi promises more new music throughout the summer and the rest of the year. He is on a mission to demonstrate that the sky’s the limit.
