In the past three years, Nigerian DJs have upped their contributions in terms of pushing their names into the credits of songs. Acts like DJ Spinall and DJ Xclusive have released full length projects while Mavin’s DJ Big N is known for tracks like Erima and Gbegiri which featured the likes of Wizkid, Dr Sid, Korede Bello, Terry Apala and CDQ. The Mavin man makes a return with Tiwa Savage, Burna Boy and Baby Fresh in assistance on Anything (For You).
If it is the case that DJ Big N goes on performances with Mavin’s other acts then it is probably fair to continue to brand him as Mavin’s official DJ. However, if like DJ Spinall, he has bigger plans and hopes to release projects, how long shall we continue to refer to him as a DJ as opposed to counting him as one of the 13 other acts on the monster label’s roster.
