With each track, Drela pushes the boundaries of Afrobeats, delivering a fresh, innovative approach that captivates listeners.
From the lively opening track Celebracion, which fuses West African beats with a Spanish flair, to the emotionally charged title track Bad Boy, Drela takes listeners on a journey through themes of love, loss, and cultural celebration. Standout songs like Dan Bola pay homage to Drela’s Northern Nigerian roots, while Banana and Badness bring playful and seductive energy, destined to dominate the dancefloor.
As the EP closes with the anthemic Like, Share & Repost, Drela makes a powerful declaration of confidence and ambition, signalling his readiness to lead the next wave of Afrobeats. Bad Boy is not just a collection of tracks; it’s a bold statement of Drela’s artistic vision, marking him as a force to be reckoned with in the global music scene.
Born and bred in Jos, Plateau state, Mohammed Salisu, popularly known as Drela, is a sonic maestro who combines soulful storytelling with a melodic touch in a way that cuts across genres. Aiming for global appeal, Drela’s soundscape often merges rhythmic R&B and Afrobeats into a palatable and artistic whole. Since catching the attention of Cashboy Records following a spectacular performance in December 2022, Drela has maintained a spot in the record label’s roster where he is constantly being groomed for more artistic exploits. His lyrics often covers issues ranging from social concerns to youth culture and the buzz of modern African life.
