Dufil and SCFN Mark a Decade of Support for Sickle Cell Warriors

For Nigerians living with Sickle Cell Disorder, managing the condition is a lifelong journey often accompanied by significant healthcare costs and difficult choices for families.

For 10 years, Dufil Prima Foods, makers of Indomie, and the Sickle Cell Foundation Nigeria (SCFN) have partnered to ease that burden through healthcare support, awareness, and advocacy.

The latest intervention under the “Hope Begins with Care” initiative provides more than 100 beneficiaries with essential medication for three months, offering families financial relief and allowing them to redirect resources towards needs such as education, housing and nutrition.

Caleb Audu, Senior Manager, SCFN, highlighted the financial pressure associated with managing the disorder. “Sickle cell management is very expensive. People sell their properties, lose their jobs, and enter survival mode just to give their children a chance at a healthy life.”

He noted that Dufil’s financial contribution enabled the medication support, adding, “Dufil donated millions to procure these drugs. On behalf of everyone here, we say thank you.”

Temitope Ashiwaju, Group Corporate Communications and Events Manager, Dufil Prima Foods, said the partnership reflects the company’s commitment to reducing the burden of Sickle Cell Disorder while promoting awareness around genotype compatibility, marriage and family planning.

The partnership has also supported community-based interventions. In 2025, Dufil backed the Makoko Community Sickle Cell Outreach Programme, providing healthcare services, genotype awareness, health education and training for primary healthcare workers.

For beneficiaries such as 16-year-old Farida Adedeji, diagnosed at age two, the support provides practical relief from the cost of managing a lifelong condition.

After a decade of sustained collaboration, Dufil and SCFN continue to demonstrate how consistent healthcare support and advocacy can translate into meaningful impact for Sickle Cell Warriors and their families.
