Following the surprise withdrawal of Dr Oby Ezekwesili from the 2019 presidential election, Fela Durotoye of the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN) has said he too could follow suit.

Durotoye had once emerged as a consensus candidate from the 11 candidates who formed Presidential Aspirants Coming Together (PACT) and eventually emerged a consensus candidate.

However, Moghalu disputed the outcome of the primary election and insisted he was still in the race.

Also, Ezekwesili, who supervised the process that produced Durotoye went ahead to declare for the Presidency. .

“PACT did not produce a truly consensus candidate,” Moghalu said in August 2018.

However, Durotoye insisted on Thursday that if another process produces any other candidate apart from himself he is ready to step aside and support the person.

“If the process produces any other candidate apart from myself, I AM READY to support whoever the Consensus Candidate is and to do all I can to support the coalition to win the 2019 Presidential elections for our generation,” Durotoye said.

“Let us come together and seize this historic window of opportunity for our generation to select one of us to go ahead of us,” he added.
