Explosion at textile market in Kano

News was broken by the BBC that there was an explosion at a textile market in Kano state today.

This is the first attack on Kano since the bombing of the Kano Central Mosque on 28th of November.

Kantin Kwari was the market attacked and is the biggest textile market in Kano, where thousands of people from neighboring states and other parts of the country come for transactions.

Eyewitnesses said the market was hit by two blasts. At least seven people died and 30 were hurt, hospital sources say.

Two female suicide bombers were responsible for Wednesday’s attack. Kano state police commissioner Adenrele Shinaba claims the blasts had been carried out by “two young girls in hijabs.”

“They came by the market and asked to be directed to a public convenience. The bombs detonated, killing them and four others,” he said.

Is there the possibility that these were in fact girls that Boko Haram kidnapped in Chibok in April?
