Following his single, Owa featuring Tekno, released in February, Falz has added another brilliant record to his discography with the release of the Vector-assisted Yakubu.

Released on March 30, 2023, Yakubu is Falz’s way of calling out Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) chairman Mahmood Yakubu for the mishandling of the recent elections the country held. On the new song Falz and Vector represented frustrated Nigerians and didn’t hold back on calling out INEC, its chairman and other political parties allegedly involved in the electoral malpractices.

“Mr Yakubu! E ma n se bi fraudster / You don’t want to prosper / Come and collect Oscar / 300 billion te gbà lówó ìjoba / Kí le fi se ná sir ? / A ti fi je Mossa,” Falz raps as he takes shots at Mahmood Yakubu. The record has led to both Falz and the INEC chairman trending on social media.

The new single was released alongside an official video that was directed by both Falz and OYETWOPOINTO. The colourful video depicts what the rapper has claimed to be a series of events that happened at the collation centres.

Yakubu was produced by Chillz and was released under the Falz-owned record label Bahdguys Entertainment and Nigerian music distribution company Dvpper Music.
