In what could be tagged as a change in policy, Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo has suggested that the Federal Government will work with illegal oil refiners instead of engaging in a war on their refineries.
When speaking on a visit to Rivers Osinbajo claimed that the government needs to work with illegal refiners in a bid to promote peace.
“Our approach to that is that we must engage them (illegal refiners) by establishing modular refineries so that they can participate in legal refineries. We have recognised that young men must be properly engaged,” he said, without further expatiating.
Osinbajo also suggested that the government make more provisions for the amnesty scheme for former militants who laid down arms in 2009 in exchange for cash stipends and job training.
