Filmmaker Turned Musician Godwin Releases Debut EP “Road to Nirvana”

Emerging Nigerian artist, Godwin, seeks to make his mark on the global music scene with the release of his highly anticipated debut EP, Road To Nirvana, via Sony Music France. With roots in  the often-overlooked city of Kaduna in Northern Nigeria, Godwin brings a unique energy to his music, blending his rich cultural influences and deep emotional experiences in a warm and distinctive tone that sets his sound apart, offering a refreshing alternative and departure from the anticipated norm in the Nigerian music scene.

His recent covers of African classics by 2face or PSquare have garnered millions of views on social media, and now the five-track Road To Nirvana offers a glimpse into his odyssey, weaving a narrative that traverses the realms of love, desire, and the formidable challenges that life presents. Each track on the EP is a canvas where Godwin’s dual artistry flourishes, merging his passion for storytelling through film with the emotive power of his musical creations. Road to Nirvana – the title track and first song on the EP – provides a moving and evocative glimpse into the human odyssey, laden with purpose, as we ardently pursue our aspirations, driven by an innate yearning for the ultimate sanctuary – Nirvana.

Godwin Josiah simply known as Godwin is a multifaceted creative with interests in music and film, starting as a filmmaker alongside his cousins with whom he founded the Variety-endorsed film collective “The Critics Company” in 2015. Producing short films across various genres, they gained global recognition in 2019, with an exhibition at MMK Frankfurt and earning a Webby Awards nomination for their work. Godwin has directed a film in collaboration with Morgan Freeman’s production company, Revelation Entertainment and has been enriched by the mentorship of distinguished filmmakers including JJ Abrams, Taika Waititi, and Kemi Adetiba.

With the release of Road To Nirvana, Godwin breaks new ground, merging his passion for storytelling with the emotive power of his musical creations.
