First African M·A·C Ambassador, Tiwa Savage Launches Her Signature Lippy

Hot on the heels of becoming the first African ambassador for international cosmetics brand, M·A·C, Afrobeats heavyweight, Tiwa Savage launched her signature lippy at The Art Hotel Lagos on the 9th of September. A couple days to the reveal party, the M·A·C Maker announced that she has been working on the collaboration for over two years and is excited to share her latest venture with her fans.

Hosted by Kaylah Oniwo who held the crowd’s attention, the afternoon kicked off with a quick introduction of The M·A·C Sub Saharan team headed by Brand Lead Sub Saharan Africa, Lebo Mulumba who was delighted to be part of such a unique gathering filled with makeup enthusiasts. Lebo explained to the audience that Tiwa was chosen not only because she is a global icon but as a result of her relationship with M·A·C and her passion for supporting local talent. She ended her speech by thanking the singer for the collaboration, rising up as an African Queen, representing the brand powerfully, choosing a color that represents men and women, and giving her all to put Africa on the map.

The self-acclaimed “M·A·C Gyal” Tiwa Savage spent the afternoon speaking about the process of formulating her new signature lipstick to an excited audience filled with professional makeup artists, beauty bloggers, content creators, and press. She showed appreciation to the audience present, saying “this a special moment for us. Africans consume so much in makeup but are not recognized so this collaboration is long overdue.” She went further to say “I chose this shade because I wanted something that is strong, bold, beautiful and represents women of my complexion because it’s difficult for ladies my complexion to find a suitable red. You can gloss it up when you want to feel like a “M·A·C gyal” but even though it’s matte, it’s not your typical dry matte.”

Following her address, she proceeded to reveal the lipstick to an enthusiastic audience who cheered her on. Kaylah created a fun and interactive game session “who knows Tiwa best?” for the audience who guessed answers and won gifts. Following the games session, Tiwa led everyone into the ‘Tiwa Lounge’ where she received questions from the press, took pictures with fans and even bust a few moves with her lipstick in hand.
