First Teaser for The Set Up starring Adesua Etomi, Joke Silva, Dakore

It seems Adesua Etomi-Wellington is going to own 2019. We just saw her handle guns and swords and kick ass in the action-packed trailer for Muna, and in the teaser for The Set Up, she is playing a henchman alongside Kehinde Bankole for a supposed crime matriarch.

The Set Up, directed by Niyi Akinmolayan (Chief Daddy and The Arbitration) and jointly produced by FilmOne (Merrymen), Inkblot Productions (The Wedding Party), and Anakle Films (Up North) is a riveting thriller on deceit and survival written by Naz Onuzo.

The official synopsis released with the teaser reads:

A young woman gets more than she bargains for and is drawn into a web of deceit when she is hired by a socialite to assist his scheme to marry a wealthy heiress.

The 1-minute teaser doesn’t reveal much—there is no dialogue; Femi Kuti’s Scatter Head plays instead. Hopefully, we will get a longer trailer with some dialogue soon. However, there is so much to look forward to: Akinmolayan’s directing after the incoherent Wedding Party: Dubai Destination; Etomi’s performance; and the box office performance of this thriller, especially with summer Hollywood blockbusters like Hobbs and Shaw and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood coming out around the same time.

The film stars Adesua Etomi-Wellington, Kehinde Bankole, Tina Mba, Jim Iyke, Dakore Akande, Joke Silva, and Ayoola. The Set Up opens in cinemas nationwide from August 9, 2019
