Funke Akindele and Adeoluwa Owu Aim To Light Up December With “A Tribe Called Judah”

Having formally launched her own production company Funke Akindele Network (FAAN), award-winning Nigerian filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele is set to release a new film A Tribe Called Judah this Christmas. The serial filmmaker joins Adeoluwa Owu, popularly known as Captain Degzy, as director; while Barny Emodi is the Director of Photography.

In a recent Instagram post, the filmmaker notes that her initiative FAAN “represents a 360-degree approach to filmmaking and production, as well as providing PR solutions for films”. She also recognizes her upcoming film A Tribe Called Judah as the sophomore product of her film powerhouse, which follows the critical acclaim of Battle On Buka Street.

A Tribe Called Judah has a cast list that includes Funke Akindele as Jedidah Judah, Timini Egbuson as Pere Judah, Olumide Oworu as Ejiro Judah, Jidekene Achufusi as Emeka Judah, Uzee Usman as Adamu Judah, and Tobi Makinde as Shina Judah. Also part of the star-studded cast are Nse Ikpe Etim, Uzor Arukwe, Nosa Rex, Boma Akpore, Greg Ojefua, Olayode Juliana, Fathia Balogun, and Ebele Okaro, Etinosa Idemudia and Yvonne Jegede.

Funke Akindele is acknowledged as producer and director of the highest grossing Nollywood film of all time, Battle On Buka Street, which was released in December, 2022. Her latest film, which is also set for release this Yuletide season, will premiere on December 15, 2023 across Nigerian cinemas.
