Gallery Weekend Lagos is a collaborative platform seeking to empower both established and emerging Nigerian artists to showcase their work at over 30 participating galleries and cultural hotspots across the Lagos Metropolis over a three-day period. It will take place from the 8th-10th November, 2019. It aims to serve as a follow up to Art X; West Africa’s foremost Art Fair hoping that citizens and tourist appetites would be open to further satiation.

Besides well-known galleries, many new and experimental working locations would participate in the event. They range from the National Museum to Omenka Gallery, the new Oshodi Transport Interchange to MOCA Lagos, the new Shyllon Museum to the Alliance Francaise/Mike Adenuga Centre. Visitors will move from one location to the other consuming what is a cocktail of Culture, Creativity and Diversity. With a particularly rich programme of Art Exhibitions, Panel Discussions, Film Screenings, Brunches, Cocktail receptions, Concerts and Book Signings, Gallery Weekend promises to be a highlight of Modern and Contemporary Art on the local and International scene.

Volunteers will be on hand to guide guests through Customised Tours and a mobile app will also help with maps and literature to help tourists reach, view and understand the content in context. The program is being organised by Pantheon, a Lagos-based Cultural Development firm in conjunction with the Lagos State Ministry of Arts and Culture, Society for Nigerian Artists and Alliance Francaise. It also boasts of an advisory board made up of prolific Artists, Collectors and Curators.
