Gombe bomb blast misses Goodluck by a whisker. Are we safe?

Earlier today a bomb blast missed President Goodluck Jonathan narrowly in Gombe State.

A bomb exploded shortly after President Goodluck left Patami stadium as part of his campaign.

At least 3 lives have been claimed and another 18 injured by the blast.

Mohammed Bolari, who was at the rally in Gombe, said the explosion occurred some three minutes after President Jonathan’s departure, reports say.

“The president had just passed the parking lot and we were trailing behind his convoy when the explosion happened,” he was quoted as saying.

Mr Jonathan addressed a rally in the north-eastern city a day after it was hit by two blasts that killed at least five people.

Since Monday morning, the city has largely been in lock-down with security operatives restricting the movement of people in most areas.

It is believed that the latest blast has resulted in violence from youths attacking those who support President Goodluck.

Despite the tight security that was around the stadium the bomb was successfully detonated and this leads to the question “Are we as Nigerians safe?”
