Google Traffic Alerts now available in Lagos.

You no longer have to spend your entire existence going from Lekki to Ikeja because Google Traffic Alerts have come to Lagos!!!

Moving forward, maps will provide real-time traffic alerts to drivers in African cities like Lagos, Nairobi and Cape Town.

In the post released yesterday, Google explained the need for this technology and anyone who lives in Lagos knows this is an excellent move in the right direction. The Google post reads “while you’re on the road, Google Maps will give you a heads up if congestion lies ahead, and how long you’ll be stuck in a jam. You’ll also get the option to take alternate routes, including explanations for why one is recommended—whether it’s the fastest or just avoids traffic.”

The live alerts feature first launched last year in the US and it is great to see that the technology is being brought to cities that most need it.
