Ibejii and The Mysterious Sightings

Posted on

October 4th, 2016 was the first ever clown sighting where reports and pictures surfaced of people disguised as evil clowns in incongruous settings in the United States, and Canada. Fast forward to the city of Lagos, on the 1st of August 2017, areas such Marina, Victoria Island, Alausa, Awolowo Way, Lekki-Ikoyi Bridge, Oba Akran, Allen Avenue, Opebi, Marwa Bus Stop, Bourdillon, and Obalende witnessed its own fair share of incongruous sightings. Even though our weird friends sported wigs, they were no clowns.

Rather, they were a carefully thought out publicity stunt for a relatively new artist – Ibejii. This unorthodox dresser who started releasing songs in 2016, is who we see our friends dressed as. The stunt was rumored to create awareness for his album release slated for the end of this month. The album features songs like Ayanfe – a song about love, and Tabularasa – a song about issues like humans not being defined by their color, size, race, religion or creed. The videos suggest that Ibejji is a man with a message. Are you willing to listen?
