Since its inception, The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) has acquired a more culturally significant status in Africa as a platform for the celebration of African cinema, fashion, film and many other aspects of the creative ecosystem in Africa.
As a result of this cross-genre and culture-shifting significance, Don Julio rose to the occasion at the 12th edition of the AMVCA as the headline sponsor in order to celebrate the astonishing achievement of Africans and African creatives within this continental creative ecosystem. In doing so, the brand went the extra mile to honour African stars and creatives through carefully curated moments and experiences that celebrated excellence.
One of the curated highlights of the evening was The Don’s Table. In line with the founding visions of the brand, the space was to intentionally celebrate preeminent icons and distinguished winners and individuals, and their rigorous efforts to the industry.

The Don’s Table focused on and celebrated the efforts and brilliance of the winners of three of the most prestigious awards of the night who were Uzor Arukwe (Odogwu), winner of the Best Actor award; Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman, the Best Supporting Actress and Funmbi Ogunbawo and Wale Davis recognised, winners of the Best Film of the Year Award, for their remarkable work, ‘My Father’s Shadow.’
In addition to their awards, the excellence and achievements of the winners were marked with a special engraved bottle of Don Julio 1942 for each of the winners. They were hosted by Uti Nwachukwu, who led them through discussions about their achievements and the efforts behind it. Afterwhich, Bovi Ugboma led them through a special toast session.

Equally celebrated was Uche Montana, whose dazzling custom-designed outfit earned her the Fashion Icon of the Night recognition. During the splendour, Uche Montana and Ose Osundeko, Head of Media & Content, presented Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman with her recognition as the Best Supporting Actress.
At the event, Don Julio registered itself again as a brand that is able to tap into the pulse of the culture and create remarkable moments to celebrate those whole works and efforts keep the culture alive and throbbing.
Don Julio’s effort is, in another breath, a commitment to the growth and global efforts of the African creative industry at large.
