Following the success of his debut album, Somewhere Between Beauty & Magic and Sip (Alcohol), Joeboy returns with his first offering of the year titled Cubana. Originally made as freestyle, the new single is fun and groovy. The TYPE A-produced single comes via Mr Eazi’s emPawa Africa. It premiered on Apple Music 1’s The Dotty Show.
Describing the making of Cubana, Joeboy says:
“This is probably the most playful song I’ve ever released. I was in the studio trying to create a ‘heartbreak song ‘with my producer TYPE A, and there was this particular progression that was really vibey and trippy, and I just started playing around with it. ‘Cubana’ started as a freestyle with this very catchy melody that stuck, and we decided to go with the flow and create something very different from what we had originally intended.”
Cubana gives listeners a taste of what to expect from his upcoming project due out later this year and serves as an appetizer for fans ahead of his U.S. tours. Joeboy will join Koffee on her The Gifted Tour from April 27 (Miami Beach) through May 2 (Charlotte, NC), before headlining ‘Young Legend Tour’ from May 4 to 30.
