Coming off the recent success of the Don’t You Give Up On Me single, Joshua Idehen releases his latest offering titled I Got You Every Step Of The Way (IGYESOTY). The Sweden based, British born Nigerian channels his innate gospel tones on this beautiful tribute to a friend named Leone Ross as he invites you to a warm celebration of friendship, kindness, unconditional love and support.
Backed by a soulful piano, IGYESOTY carries a poignant narrative through his trademark poetic lyricism – one that ultimately was sourced from his almost ending his own life, but saved by the compassion of another. Eager to push boundaries, he explores gospel house, rave and spoken word; giving listeners a taste of his forthcoming project.
On the inspiration for IGYESOTY, Idehen explains;
“Leone Ross is one of my best friends, godmother to my daughter, and legit one of the reasons I’m still alive. I told her I’d write her a song. She likes it. Everything else is extra.”
Prior to this release, Idehen’s talent has received praise from Clash Mag, Trench, The Quietus, Afropunk, Notion and Fred Perry. It also comes as no surprise that he got featured on NME’s 2021 ‘
Ones To Watch’ and has contributed vocals for two Mercury Nominated albums.
