Kachi Benson’s ‘In Bakasi’ to Screen at Berlinale Film Festival

In Bakasi, a short documentary by filmmaker Kachi Benson has been selected to screen at Berlinale Film Festival.

‘In Bakasi’ was debuted at the Cairo International Film Festival as the first Nigerian VR film to screen at an international film festival.

Speaking on the necessity of the documentary he says:

“In the past three years I’ve traveled around Northeast Nigeria, filming the impacts of the Boko Haram insurgency, and I’ve seen some of the damages not just to property and infrastructure but also to lives, especially the lives of children.The biggest victims of the Boko Haram insurgency are children, and every time I visit the North East I try to return with at least one story, to share…”

The story of ‘In Bakasi’ follows, an 11-year-old orphan, Modu Mustapha who has been sheltered in the IDP camp for three years.

The documentary by Kachi Benson will be screened from Friday, February 8, 2019, till Wednesday, February 13 at the Berlinale Film Festival.
