Kah-Lo Sets The Stage For Her Debut Album With “Runaway”

Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer and songwriter Kah-Lo has released a new single Runaway. Following GD Woman, Karma, and fund$, Runaway serves as the fourth single off Kah-Lo’s forthcoming debut album Pain/Pleasure, due on the 8th of September by Epic Records. 

In Runaway, Kah-Lo showcases the depth of her genre-blending skills. Embellished with soft groovy percussion and deep, plucked basslines, Runaway is a sensuous landscape for Kah-Lo’s lush vocal prowess. 

Flaunting both smooth R&B tones with a touch of  Amapiano, Runaway strikes a powerful balance between the confidence she’s exhibited so far and her gentler side as she entices her lover with her lustful lyricism. With the alluring duality of her commanding presence and sensitive soul, Runaway foreshadows Pain/Pleasure’s mission to reveal Kah-Lo’s multi-layered personality. 

Since emerging on the scene in 2016, appearing on Riton’s Rinse & Repeat, which earned them a Grammy nomination for ‘Best Dance Recording,’ Pain/Pleasure culminates Kah-Lo’s experiences throughout her career, cataloguing every feeling from extreme bitterness to thrilling gratification. 

In 2017, Kah-Lo dropped her debut solo single Fasta, following up with Fake I.D. in 2018, which became the lead song for TikTok’s U.S. arrival. Her fierce persona as a solo artist continued to shine through with her debut project, The Arrival EP, which saw its lead single Commandments included in the FIFA 2022 Soundtrack. 

In 2022, Kah-Lo released her hit single Drag Me Out, which was featured in Oscar de la Renta’s Spring 2022 campaign and has amassed more than 7 million streams on Spotify. 

Vulnerability and authenticity, two qualities Kah-Lo has never shied away from, are the catalysts for Pain/Pleasure as Kah-Lo fuels her vengeful energy into a tale of female empowerment and self-love. 

A combination of frisky, party-starting lyricism and a refreshing blend of house and pop music, Kah-Lo’s spirited originals have been placed in shows like ZIWE, Gossip Girl, Run The World, Harlem, NCIS Los Angeles, Everything’s Trash, and more.
