Kelechi Iheanacho Makes Nigerian History With £25 Million Leicester City Switch

While Neymar has rewritten history by becoming the world’s most expensive player ever following his move from Barcelona to PSG, Kelechi Iheanacho takes his place at the top of the list of most expensive Nigerian players ever as he completes a £25 million Leicester switch from Manchester City.

The forward joins Nigerian midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi at Leicester City and leapfrogs Odion Ighalo on his way to becoming Nigeria’s most expensive player ever. He sits below only Mohammed Salah on the list of Africa’s most expensive footballers.

Iheanacho who scored 12 Premier League goals in 46 City appearances is excited following the move and expressed his confidence that he will fit in well. He said:

“I know the ambition of the team and speaking with the manager, he let me know what I need to do – to help the team achieve what they want. I was convinced and I’m happy to be here.

‘I was happy speaking with the manager, knowing what the team wants. It gives me more confidence that I will fit in this team and hopefully I’ll achieve a lot.”
