In perhaps the greatest testimony of the viability of Nigeria’s creative industry, it’s becoming increasingly common to find people opting to pursue a career within it as opposed to the traditional professions. One example of this is Ken Dickson who has abandoned a potential career in Medicine for Music. Born Amu Kingsley on 10th December 1996, his musical journey started in  2011 but did not professionally take off till 2016. His interest in music was largely developed from following his late dad to work as the then head presenter of Radio Nigeria Enugu. Despite struggling to get support from his parents who wanted him to focus on his academics, they would eventually overcome their reservations saying “At a point, they gave up on their prodigal son and started being a bit supportive. My dad in particular really threw his weight behind me, because he started promoting me on the radio.
