L.A.X And Davido Are A Commendable Tag Team On ‘Pepe’

Having worked with some of the most sought-after artists in the industry, L.A.X continues to grow and nurture himself and his independent label, Rasaki Music. Last year, in the thick of the pandemic, he put his experience to good use on his sophomore album, with the lead single, Sempe, serving as the album’s pacesetter. Still riding the high the album afforded him, he returns today with Pepe, a slow burner featuring Davido, that banks on the duo’s ability to twist words to suit their narratives, captivate their audience, and influence a move, or two.

L.A.X is known for his distinct formula of Afrobeats, Afropop, Fuji, and Amapiano and ability to effortlessly transition from club bangers to sensual serenades; Pepe nests in the midst of these abilities. A song about financial lavishness stemming from lust and love, the duo creates a rendition worthy of setting dancefloors alight for the summer months ahead.

With both L.A.X and Davido sharing a similar come-up in Nigeria, Pepe connects two linchpins of the West African music scene.
