This year, Lady Donli has had a swell time conquering every SoundCloud Underdog stereotype. From revealing hits like Poison to enviable features on projects like Mr Eazi’s Lagos to London and Show Dem Camp’s Palm Wine Music II to sold out shows in different cities in the world to developing a video game with roots in acclaimed record; Games, the Lawyer meets Singer and Songwriter has bounced off high tides and is riding the waves that broke her out of the choke hold of SoundCloud to the mainstream.
Months after revealing one of her many characters in the video for Poison, she shows us another in the video for the lush, emotive and sentimental Games featuring GJtheCaesar: the second music video shot under Mr Eazi’s youth initiative – emPawa Africa.
Directed by Irene Ashu, the video hosts a myriad of avant garde sceneries complete with soulful choreography and married with references from the video game that projects the core of Donli’s chaotic love inspired narrative.
Lady Donli’s sound might not be the go-to for the average Nigerian but in a way that depicts her level-headedness, she keeps pushing and it’s no wonder why she has become sought after and has us looking forward to the release of her coming project: Enjoy Your Life.
