Going by his track record and trajectory, it’s obvious that Lago has a bright future musically. Building on the success of his last single, Vibes, the singer reemerges with Balance, an emotionally precise take on the fusion of Afrobeats and Carribbean music.
The Phantom produced track opens softly with light shakers and African Conga drums. It is then picked up almost immediately by a drumroll accompanied by Lago’s opening chant, “Lituation! vibes and vibes to the early morning!”, changing it to a groovy number.
He is putting his love for his woman and romance on the spotlight yet again in the memorable chorus and throughout the just a little above 2 minutes song, “Check and Balance, Ileke idi o por, Amorawa jekarirawa, overdosed on your love/ Oh I realize it’s only you and I”, switching lyrics in Pidgin, Yoruba and Patois, all in true Lago fashion.
This earworm track is a rather interesting expansion of Lago’s soundscape.
