Introducing the newest kid on the block, singer/songwriter Magixx! The latest Mavin Records signee is bursting onto the scene with his self-titled five track EP which highlights his vocal finesse, sonic versatility and cool style. The self-titled EP is the perfect blend of Afro-fusion and R&B- Magixx’s distinctive, hybrid sound seamlessly pieces together stories about his experiences on love, life and humanity.
Kicking off the EP is Love Don’t Cost A Dime. This smooth track touches on the charm of new love, while acknowledging that the most powerful and precious gifts are sentimental. On this Lomon produced track, the warm, gentle keys and passionate drums delicately compliment Magixx’s vocals. Like A Movie carries on the delicately smooth experience, serenading his mystery girl with his love and affection, while promising to cut off his signature locks “Just to prove I no fit lie for you.”
The feel-good club track Parti is inspired by the joy and excitement of a Lagos party. The London produced track highlights Magixx’s celebratory mood through the use of catchy melodies and an equally catchy hook. On the heartfelt tune Gratitude, Magixx taps deep into his emotions by expressing thankfulness, while reflecting on his journey so far.
Closing the EP is the reflective yet sentimental offering Motivate Yourself– a ballad touching on the loneliness of failure, ambition and the need to pick yourself up after disappointment. The addition of delicate keys and violin strings take this track to a truly magical place. If this EP is anything to go by, it is clear that Magixx is here to stay! The conscious artist highlights, “I want to make music that speaks for itself and to create a sound that will always remind the coming generation that Magixx was here.” Keep Magixx on your radar!
