There’s a case to be made as a musician for not having too big a debut single. Debuting with Eleko, Mayorkun was scrutinized for the speedy success while many watched his next move, wondering if he was about to be our next one hit wonder. Two years in, the pop star has buried any such suggestions with records like Mama and Che Che. He has also toured the UK and shall be taking the music across the US in the preceding six weeks. His first 2018 single, Bobo is an RnB cut that features his king maker, Davido.
On the Lush and Killertunes produced record, Mayorkun shows the vulnerability of a man in love as he articulates his belief that money is the root of love and again shows his strength as a quality songwriter. On Davido’s verse, he touches on being up as ever and his redefining impact on the Nigerian pop soundscape in 2017.
In the Clarence Peters directed video, we see multiple Mayorkun personas and the clear visualisation of ‘na money be fine bobo’ when he sees his girl stolen by a much richer version of himself.
