Meet the Cinematic Vanguards Shaping Nigerian Film
With this campaign, we spotlight some of these women across the many dimensions of the industry and use them as a lens for the wider progress that has been accomplished through the resilience and persistence of women in film.
This International Women’s Day season, Culture Custodian is proud to announce Cinematic Vanguards, a campaign dedicated to celebrating women across the Nigerian film industry and the depth of their contributions to cinema and culture.
Nollywood is one of the country’s most powerful cultural exports, and within the industry are brilliant women whose creative vision and labour continue to champion its progress. Over decades, women have assumed great positions in the industry and dominated its creative and executive spaces, producing some of the most compelling films and establishing enduring production companies.
With this campaign, we spotlight some of these women across the many dimensions of the industry and use them as a lens for the wider progress that has been accomplished through the resilience and persistence of women in film.
Throughout the month of March, we will feature a curated group of women working across different facets of Nigerian cinema. The campaign will unfold through immersive visual storytelling using dedicated editorial profiles, professional photoshoots, and intimate video interviews that document their journeys, achievements, and the complexities they have navigated.
Each feature invites you into honest conversations about craft, ambition, and the realities of building a career in Nigerian cinema. Honourees will be revealed progressively throughout March, allowing each story the space it deserves.
By centring film, Culture Custodian recognises the industry as both an economic force and a living archive. Cinema captures our histories, interrogates our present, and imagines our future.
The campaign is proudly supported by Frutta, M.O.T The Label and BMPro . Together, these partners join Culture Custodian in championing creativity and excellence.
