Michael B. Jordan and Warner Bros. to Take African Fantasy Novel, ‘Bloody Leopard, Red Wolf’ to the Big Screen

Black Panther and Creed star Michael B. Jordan and Warner Bros have recently acquired the film rights to the Marlon James epic African fantasy novel, Bloody Leopard Red Wolf. The film adaptation will serve as the first acquisition by Jordan’s and Warner’s production banner Outlier Society.

The novel since publication has received stellar reviews with the likes of Rolling Stone referring to is as “a stunning, word-drunk take on sword-and-sorcery sagas” and the New York Times singing his praises for creating “characters who will take their place in the pantheon of memorable and fantastical superheroes.”

Black Leopard, Red Wolf is the Jamaican novelists fourth novel and the first instalment in his planned Dark Star trilogy. The novel in which James calls the “the African Game of Thrones” follows the story of a mercenary named Tracker who is hired to find a missing child on account of his heightened sense of smell and incorporates elements such as witches, a shape-shifting leopard, a killer hyena, and conjoined twins.
