With ongoing attacks from herdsmen and different militia groups in Benue, Nasarawa, Taraba and Zamfara states, the Nigerian military has launched Operation Whirl Stroke.
Brigadier General John Agim, the Acting Director of Defence Information, while briefing media personnel in Makurdi claimed the operation began on the 8th of May and involves the different arms of the military, the Nigerian Police Force and Department of State Services (DSS).
The Force Commander who shall oversee the new operation, Major General Mutiu Yekini went on to assure residents of the said states improvements in security seeing as the operations shall cover both land and air targets.
With Benue as one of the most affected states, many have called on the Federal Government to declare the killer herdsmen as terrorists.
