Looking inwards, it is clear that Mr Eazi has begun thinking about his legacy and what life looks like away from being a musician. It could perhaps explain his desire to start Empawa. Since his sophomore effort, Lagos To London, the budding music business mogul has shared only a handful of singles. This week, he tops his effort with the Killertunes produced Kpalanga, a corny love song with origins dating back to his parent’s time.
Opening with a heavenly Piano intro, Kpalanga is the perfect ode to a lover who has sacrificed just as Mr Eazi’s mother did for his father according to his British GQ account. He exercises the dynamic quality of his vocals as he switches from silky bass to falsetto reminding us why he’s so special in the first place.
