Nemsia Studios, the production company behind Breath of Life and A Green Fever, will unveil three films at the upcoming NollywoodWeek Film Festival in Paris, France, this May. The selected titles are After 30 (screening 8th May), Soft Love (screening 10th May) and The Fire and The Moth (screening 11th May). This development marks an interesting point in the commitment of the studio towards projecting African stories to global audiences.
After 30 is a follow-up to the story of Before 30 which was released ten years ago. The 2015 series was based on four close friends played by Beverly Naya, Meg Otanwa, Anee Icha and Damilola Adegbite who are on a quest to get married before turning 30. A decade after, in the latest sequel, the four actresses reprise their roles, this time around as women navigating love, ambition, motherhood, regrets and self-discovery. The film is co-written by Bibi Ukpo, BB Sasore and Omorinsojo Spaine who is the director.
Soft Love, written by Pablo Maolingoane and directed by Holmes Awa, is a romantic comedy that is set in both Nigeria and South Africa. It follows the story of Zandi Hele, a relationship expert played by South African actress Cindy Mahlangu, who regains faith in love after Edwards, a Nigerian photographer played by Efa Iwara, comes into her life. The film also stars Genoveva Umeh, Rosemary Simi, Carol King, Danny Ross, Dorcas Shola Fapson and Sandra Shandu. Soft Love premiered on 25th October on Amazon Prime Video.
Directed by Taiwo Egunjobi and produced by Emiola Fagbenle, The Fire and the Moth is one of Nemsia’s unreleased titles, making its screening at the festival a special early look for international viewers. The film is a deeply personal, emotional story that touches on grief, beauty, and the healing power of art. Through its striking visuals and heartfelt storytelling, The Fire and the Moth aims to leave a lasting impression on audiences both at home and abroad.
Speaking about this moment, Nemsia Studios co-founder BB Sasore shared, “Having three of our films selected for NollywoodWeek is not just a win for us, it’s a win for Nigerian cinema. We’re especially proud to premiere The Fire and the Moth, a film that speaks to the soul and showcases the emotional depth Nollywood has to offer.”
NollywoodWeek Film Festival is a major platform for Nigerian and African filmmakers, offering a chance to connect with global audiences, film professionals, and cinema lovers in Paris. This year’s edition is scheduled for 7th-11th May. Nemsia Studios is honoured to be part of this cultural celebration and remains committed to telling bold, original African stories.
