Binti, the critically acclaimed sci-fi novella by Nigerian-American writer Nnedi Okorafor, is being developed into a TV show and is set to premiere on US-based VOD service Hulu. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Okorafor will pen the screenplay alongside Stacy Osei-Kuffour (Watchman).

Binti, set in a futuristic Africa, follows an intelligent and rebellious woman whose destiny is tied to her community. But she chooses a different path when she gets admitted into the most prestigious academy in the galaxy, leaving her family and community behind for a life in the sky.

An excited Okorafor, who announced in 2017 that HBO is adapting Who Fears Death into a series, shared the news with her Twitter followers: “Finally, I can be public about it!. We are adapting Binti into a TV series at Hulu.”
