Knocking on Heaven’s Door is an Emem Isong production that stars some Nollywood heavyweights (Ini Edo, Majid Michel) and a few talented new faces as well (Adesua Etomi).

The movie is centered on a young pastor and his wife who on the surface, seem like the perfect couple but are really living a life of infidelity, jealousy and violence.

This movie is one of the most well- acted Nollywood productions I’ve seen in a while, especially on the part of Adesua Etomi who is still fairly new to the Nollywood scene. Both she and Chukwujekwu who played her abusive husband were able to bring the raw emotion and volatility that usually are associated with domestic violence.

Unfortunately the thing that wrecked the entire movie were the musical breaks. Etomi’s character is supposed to be an aspiring musician, and as such, once in a while a perfectly good scene will break into (and I’m not kidding) a High School Musical moment. What is it with Nollywood movies making their characters sing their words now instead of saying them anyway? Luckily, that little annoyance only made up a small portion of the film altogether so I’d still highly recommend it.
