Not3s Connects With His Nigerian Roots on “So Far Gone”, Featuring Mayorkun

The British-Nigerian artist Not3s has released a new single, So Far Gone, in which he features Mayorkun. This is the most connected Not3s has ever been to his Nigerian heritage. Some may call it an epiphany, others may call it a homecoming. However you see it, this is a full-circle moment for Not3s that reinforces the beauty of creative freedom and expression.

After a thread of hit singles catapulting him into the mainstream, Not3s reached pop star status in the UK by the time he was 19, pioneering a unique sound that would pave the way for Afroswing to dominate the charts.

6 years since his debut album Take Not3s, Not3s not only showcases a maturity in his sound in So Far Gone, but also his own growth from a teen pop sensation to a refined artist that has reconnected with his roots.

So Far Gone was conceived during a trip to Fela Kuti’s grave in Lagos. While there, Not3s was told by Grammy-nominated Nigerian artiste Bankulli that he belonged in Lagos, and that he should continue the Afrobeats story as a “son of the soil.”

Breaking away from the major label situation that was pressuring him to create trend-leaning pop, he’s now joined forces with independent Afrobeats powerhouse MOVES Recordings (Afro B, Camidoh, Boj, Eugy), traveling between Lagos, Accra, and London to record his most authentic music to date that fuses the sounds of West Africa with a London twang.
