Olamide, DJ Consequence and Young Jonn Create House Music on Assignment

Posted on

One of the earliest introductions we had to House music in Nigeria was when Davido buddied with Mafikizolo on Tchelete. Since then, most big names have found South African counterparts and created house leaning music with them. For Nigerians on their own though, its often unheard of that they go the route of house music. Wavy The Creator is one of the few who actually has in recent times. On Assignment though, Olamide, DJ Consequence and Young Jonn go for it.

While the beat has all the callings of a South African track, that’s the only thing you can point to that shows an attempt at creating house music. Olamide completely delivers his lines in Yoruba and to be fair, the record is a mundane one. While Olamide is notorious for witty lines as well as his perfect synthesis with the rhythm of the song, it’s become predictable and over the track, he fails to create any excitement because we’ve gotten this exact same thing one too many times.

All the same, if you’re a staunch Olamide fan, you will bump to this regardless, but there really is no “wow” factor to this. It really is just there.
