Onyiaka’s Lush Persona Shines Through On Five-Track ‘Trbl’

Nigerian Los Angeles native, Onyiaka’s passion for music, is just as strong as her textured vocals. Her preference for being at the forefront of music and evoking emotions as a singer instead, spurn dissatisfaction with her stint as a choreographer, dancing in the music videos of the likes of Wale, Davido, and Tiwa Savage and prompted her to discover her own voice. Years spent honing her craft pushed her into the experimental stratosphere and there, she created a new style of Afrofusion music with twists unique to her niche one characterized by the dominant year 2000 Nollywood elements. It’s on the basis of this she shares her latest EP, Trbl.

The five-track EP is the perfect feel-good project filled with exciting dance tracks and anthems curated from her own unique Alternative Afro-Fusion genre, which she describes as a blend of her Nigerian and American backgrounds.
From the earlier released immersive Nabania with its unique fusion of shaky and flute-y percussions to the bass drum fest that is Playa and the lushness of 3:45, Trbl is a blend of sounds that are new, different, and guaranteed to get her listeners moving from coast to coast.
